Egg Thingys for Slack Mums

Okay, so I could have called this recipe something fancy, but quite frankly, I couldn’t be stuffed! I have been talking with some other bloggy mums about  being real and authentic. I figure you have already worked out that I keep things pretty real. My food styling leaves a lot to be desired, I have appeared on the blog in a face mask and my dressing gown and I had a melt-down about what I found in my son’s shoe drawer that time. Just a few examples. I would hate anyone to think I am a natural,...

Healthy Breakfast Ideas

Recently on my Facebook page, Natural New Age Mum, we had a discussion about breakfast cereals and how bad most of them are. Pretty much all of the packaged stuff you buy is devoid of any real nutrition, as it has been so heavily processed. Have a read of this article from Cyndi O’Meara at Changing Habits for some more information. This prompted me to ask -What healthy breakfasts are you feeding your family? The response was overwhelming! There were so many great ideas, so I thought I would share them all...

Blueberry Breakfast Slice

I was so thrilled that the Australian Healthy Food Guide magazine featured my recipe as a ‘reader recipe’ a few years ago. It really is a cracker and I am finally sharing it with you! I have updated it a little since then to make it even more healthy. The beauty of this recipe is that you can totally make it to suit your own tastes and change it around each time. We eat it for breakfast but the kids and hubby also pack it in their lunch boxes. I have been known to have it for lunch and an afternoon...

Really good wholegrain gluten-free bread!

My daughter and I went wheat free several months ago and I have been searching for the perfect gluten-free, whole grain bread recipe. The gluten-free bread from the supermarket is not only ridiculously expensive, it is loaded with additives and mostly white with no wholegrainy goodness - not something we want to be eating! I was so happy to come across this recipe from the Gluten Free Goddess. It’s a cracker! If you have a thermomix, you can mill most of the grains in your thermomix to make your own flours....

Rhubarb, Rhubarb! Roasted with greek yoghurt

Rhubarb, Rhubarb !! Does anyone remember why we used to say that as kids? I remember I did, but I don’t know why! Now I can’t say RHUBARB without it being in duplicate! Anyway, onto the food! My brain has been getting a work out lately as my diet has become very specific. What can I have as a treat that does not involve sugar, fruit or wheat? Also, healthy and not too calorific? And easy? And quick? Rhubarb, Rhubarb! It’s technically a vegetable, not a fruit. And it’s a very tart...

Make your own gluten free brekky cereal

I think I have a crush on Julie Maree Wood. I buy her books, I make her recipes, I stalk her Facebook pages, I like her posts, I tell everyone about her. Julie Maree Wood is awesome. “Julie Maree Wood is a naturopath and nutritionist (a food nerd). She teaches and writes on the topic, runs a clinic in Sydney and is the nutritionist for the Sydney Kings’ basketball team. She is the author of Feeding Fussy Kids, 60-Second Secrets,  The Complete Food Makeover and The 4 week Energy Diet.” Just when I...
