10 Healthy Ice Cream Recipes!
Who doesn’t love an ice cream on a hot summer’s day?
Unfortunately, the commercial ice cream you buy can be truly horrendous. Just start looking at labels and you will see sugar, sugar and lots of sugar, hydrogenated vegetable oils and additives galore (some even use msg!). Urrrk!
Truth is, it’s pretty easy to make your own ice cream at home. You can turn an unhealthy treat into a healthy treat!
We invested in a good Cuisinart ice cream machine and have loved every minute of it! Gourmet ice-cream is cheap as chips when you make it yourself. Don’t pay $10 for half a litre! You can also control exactly what ingredients go in to your ice cream – use organic ingredients and healthier sugar substitutes like honey, maple syrup, rapadura or coconut sugar.
A thermomix or food processor will often do the job too for some of these recipes, so you don’t even need an ice cream maker. Have a go at whipping up some soft fruit that needs to be used up and adding some sort of liquid – juice, milk, milk substitute or coconut water. Whack it into containers and into the freezer!

I just came home from the supermarket and was so tempted to buy some ice cream (the batch I made at home last week was an epic fail, according to 2/3 kids). All it took was a quick look at the ingredients list and I swiftly put it back.
I’m going to give Bek’s banana split a try…its the perfect weather for it and looks divine.
Yes, the ingredients are a chemical cocktail!! eek! Let me know how you go with it! 🙂
I can’t believe how easy these are! Thank you beautiful!! I know what my girls and I are doing this afternoon. Xx

There is no avoiding ice-cream in the summertime it’s true. How wonderful to now have a compilation of recipes to try out : )
What a great list. I would love to try the banana split, it looks very yummy. We make our own dairy free ice cream with bananas all the time, and it takes oh so good!
Thanks for all the tasty inspiration. I made some mango sorbet yesterday in my thermomix and it was happily received. With the cuisinart icecream maker does the base take up much space in the freezer? That has been what has put me off.
Oh my goodness yum!! Sharing xx
thanks Nicola!
Made your pine lime splice today and my miss 3 is enjoying it for desserts after our 40 degree day. Awesome recipe thanks 🙂
Thanks for the mention lovelies…did you see the frozen yoghurt torte starring the one and only magic green powder from you?? DELISH and cold as well! Love your work!
