I haven’t really bothered with protein powders before.
One look at the ingredients in some of them is enough to scare you off! Artificial additives, sweeteners, refined sugars – yuk! According to Sally Fallon at The Weston A Price Foundation, some protein powders are very nasty.
Knowing this, the clever people at Nutra Organics have worked tirelessly in sourcing and formulating an alternative – a healthy, natural protein powder. One thing that always stands out about Nutra Organics is that they are highly ethical. Vanessa, Darlsy and all the people who work there bring their kids up on these products and they make sure that only the highest quality ingredients are used. I was surprised to learn just how much research and work goes into it!
Thriving Protein is pretty special and unique in the market place. There is nothing quite like it.
♥ raw (so no high heat denaturing the protein)
♥ dairy free (no whey)

♥ gluten free
♥ corn free
♥ GMO free

♥ omega 3 fatty acids
You can find a full ingredient list on the Nutra Organics website.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to like them (sssh don’t tell Vanessa!) Having had a bad experience with nasty tasting, floury protein powders in the past, I thought it just wasn’t my thing. What I wasn’t expecting was the delicious flavours – it pretty much tastes like a chocolate or vanilla milkshake when you pop it in a glass of milk. Brilliant.
And did they past the kid test? We all know this is the hardest one to pass! Yes, it did. Both kids think they are really yummy. I have really noticed that when they have Thriving Protein after school, it fills them up. They are not snacking to the huge extent they were before (yes teenagers really do eat you out of house and home, especially when they do a lot of sport!) It was getting very expensive to feed them, so I appreciate having something that will satisfy their appetites with amazing quality nutrition.
So, how do you use Thriving Protein powder?
Well the list is endless. Pop it in a glass of milk or milk substitute. Use it in smoothies and paddle pops. Sprinkle it on oats. Mix it into yoghurt. Pop it into bliss balls. Use it in recipes.
Here is one recipe I have come up with that you can give a go. It’s a lot more natural and budget friendly than a ready made protein bar. I hope you like it!
Berry Bubble Protein Bars
Vital Stats: Gluten Free, Egg Free, Nut Free, Sugar Free
Okay, so this is what you need:
2 cups organic puffed brown rice
1 1/2 cups organic virgin coconut oil
4 tablespoons Thriving Protein Exotic Vanilla powder
3 tablespoons C-Berry Blast or Acai Berry Blend powder
1/4 cup goji berries
1/2 cup organic cranberries
1/4 cup organic coconut flakes
[box] HOT TIP: Use any sort of dried berry you like. Just make sure it doesn’t contain any artificial additives.[/box]Okay, so this is how you do it:
Whisk the Thriving Protein powder and the C-Berry Blast or Acai Berry Blend powder into the coconut oil.
Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
Pour into a baking paper lined slice tin.
Refrigerate until set. Cut into bars.
You will need to store this in the fridge.

Yum looks good. I would love to try any of the flavors but maybe the chocolate one the most. My youngest is dairy free and I have been trying to find a good vegan protein powder to add to her baking this would be perfect.
The chocolate one, kids would definately also think they were getting a special treat
Vanilla! I would love to be able to add this to so many things when baking, and make the kids dairy and soy free yummy milkshakes! And probiotics too..what an awesome product
Would love to try the coconut choc! Cant wait to try your recipe thanks for sharing.
I’ve been looking for a healthy protein powder for my family so what great timing! I’d love to try the vanilla please.
Coconut choc sounds absolutely delicious
I would love to try the exotic vanilla please. I have a teenage boy who has multiple allergies/intolerance’s and is very active. Trying to keep him at a healthy weight is such a challenge in our home. He has asked for other protein powders but i have been very reluctant to get them because of all the other additives. Thank you for bringing an ethical company to our notice. 😀
oh this sounds just what you are looking for – it is very hard to keep up with teenage boys’s appetites!!
Mmm exotic Vanilla sounds delicious! Would be so versatile to add to recipes 🙂
Thanks for reviewing.,I too hadn’t been sure of protein powders. I would like to try chocolate to see if I can slow my two in their snacking in the afternoons. Thanks.
Ditto about protein powders!!! I had a peep at their web-site though and I agree, looks pretty natural and yummo and super duper nutritious!!!! Given the quality of ingredients, I now understand their cost!! My fam sooo wouldn’t be fussy with any of the yum flavours – but i”ll humour myself and say choc coconut anyway xox Happy Valentines!!
Ooooh we’d love to try the vanilla please. We also would benefit by boosting our protein intake but refused to use those nasty, chemical ridden products that flood the market.

What a fantastic product, exactly what I have been looking for, something safe for the kids. My 4yo is struggling to eat breakfast at the moment and I think if I gave him this in a smoothie it would help keep him fuller for longer. I think all flavours sound great, but would probably go with exotic vanilla.
Yay, These look great, would love any but prob the coconut choc the most. Thanks recipe sounds great too.
I’d love to try the vanilla, it’s so versatile as I would not only add to smoothies but also lots of homemade snacks.

I’d love to try the coconut choc, it would be perfect for my protein balls and bars I make with my daughter that need to be gluten and dairy free.
We’d love to the coconut choc a try, it sounds delicious!
Definitely the “Coconut Choc”. It would be just like a Coconut Rough in a cup and good for you!
The cacao choc would be great for my four year old who is difficult to get any protein source into, something like this that I know has no nasty extras would be great 🙂
Vanilla please. We are currently using another protein powder that my son finds very powdery tasting. Really need to find something he will enjoy drinking and will be beneficial to his health, this product sounds great!
cacao choc appeals to me! This sounds like the exact thing we need at the moment!
I desperately need to try this! I have always been worried about my 6 year old who has a limited diet due to dairy / egg / nut allergy. He doesn’t like the taste of most supplements and won’t touch meat. He really needs more protein in his diet and I prefer things to be chemical free so this sounds perfect!
Vanilla please!
Oooooo ! Yum !
Choc for me please xx
Chocolate chocolate and more chocolate!! :)))
So hard to choose but I’d love the choc. Trying to get my 10 year old to realise there’s more to chocolate than Cadbury!! Thanks so much x
I’d ❤ the cacao choc. It would be great to have a healthy alternative to milo and hot choc powder.
Vanilla yummo, so versatile to use in recipes.
Coconut choc sounds Delish! Breastfeeding mum’s dream 🙂
Chocolate goodness….they all sound delicious 🙂
May I assure anyone who is concerned about the texture of this protein powder…please don’t worry about it.There is not an issue at all with it’s flavour or texture. It is sublime. It is delicious, not floury (as one might expect from pea protein) or unpleasant/boring/ unpalatable at all. I have an extemely fussy teenage boy and he loves it. We have the Cacao Choc. I think if you try will be pleasantly surprised.
This is great timing as I’ve been researching what safe options there are out there for protein powders for myself and my 16 yr old son. I’d love to try the vanilla flavour please

Exotic vanilla. I’ve always loved the idea of protein powders but been too scared to try them due to not ‘understanding’ the ingredients. These ones look fantastic!
Exotic Vanilla, but all sound great.
Exotic vanilla sounds fancy! And yum. I’m don’t eat as well as I should (or at all sometimes!) so I think I’ll need to buy some if I’m not a lucky winner. Quick easy way to get some goodness into me.

I would love to try coconut choc! It’s a flavour I’ve never seen before and would love to give it a try. 🙂
I would love to try the vanilla, the name makes it sounds very…appealing.
I would love to try the Choc Coconut one. I have been waiting for these to come out. I love their Supergreens and Red Powder, so I know these will be amazing!
so hard to choose! Vanilla please.
Choc coconut sounds yummy
Sounds great! Definitely think my children would like the chocolate please 🙂
I’d love to try Acai berry! thanks for the chance!
Any flavour please. My eldest (6) does not like eating meat, so our go to protein for her was beans. Now her younger sister is intolerant to legumes, and other things, so I can’t serve her sister baked beans as it was her favourite meal.
To be able to get some proteins into miss 6 without argument would save me many hassles while her sister is on the elimination diet and we do food challenges.
Thanks
choc coconut for me! my dear little 2 year old is always asking for ‘smoofies’ this would be something i would love to smuggle into them for extra goodness 😉
The Coconut choc sounds deliceeouso!!
Hi there, I would love to try the Exotic Vanilla!
Oooh, vanilla please, so I can make those yummy sounding Berry Bubble Protein Bars for my poor, starving boys! They’re always so hungry, hopefully these would fill them for a while!

Vanilla – my favourite!
I would love to try the exotic vanilla!
Coconut Choc sounds delicious!
I’d love to try the cacao choc. The perfect way to sate my sweet tooth in a healthy way! Unlike others, I am actually trying to put on weight and am sick of protein powders that taste terrible. I’d love to try the Thriving Protein range.
I would LOVE to try the Coconut Choc! It sounds very yummy!
I am a fb liker and a subscriber. Thanks for the chance 🙂
The cocao choc sounds like a great alternative to a choc milk drink! Have recently been craving them and have given into a milo too many times 🙁 Would love to try it out please! 🙂
ooh exotic vanilla! (but really, all 3 hehe!)
I’m leaning towards the Exotic Vanilla- you could add it to mini muffins, protein bars & then add simple touches like a frozen banana to make the most amazing smoothies!
Would love to try the exotic vanilla so I make this amazing looking recipe 🙂
Ooooh yummy!! Would love to try the coconut flavour 🙂
Would love, love, love to try the vanilla! It goes with anything and everything. A great way to get extra goodness into the kids in almond mylk shakes, nom nom…..
Vanilla would be my first preference to try, I’ve been in search for one that has a creamy vanilla taste. Ive heard such good things about all the flavours though!!

Fingers crossed
Oooooh, can’t decide between the Coconut Choc and the Cacao Choc! You know what, any of them would be awesome, including Exotic Vanilla! 🙂
I saw these when you posted them on fb the other week. They look so delicious. As im a hater of breakfast and only starting to tey new things since trying some of your ideas the other day, I would love the vanilla one as you can mix it with other flavours. I would love to be able to have a healthy sgake in the morning before kindy drop off. And it would be great for my daughter as she isnt a big breakfast fan either. 🙂
Although I would love the vanilla for my breakfast smoothies I think the cacao choc could be the perfect thing to get my super fussy 8 year old to have a healthy, nutritious brekky. I’m so over the begging for up and go’s. Thanks for sharing xx
Seriously, I had almost given up on protein shakes because I’m too picky about all the ingredients and crap you find in most brands.
Plus … I have to look for a paleo one for Miss H that doesn’t taste horrendo!…
We would love any flavour, but Coconut Choc would be our choice … yummy!
chocolate all the way 😀 !
Chocolate please for two reasons 1) Master 3 misses his chocolate milkshakes sooooo much since he went dairy free for health reasons and nothing i’ve bought so far has worked as a substitute and 2) i am supposed to feed Master 3 protein with EVERY meal and its crazy hard as he is super fussy due to sensory issues 🙂
I would love to try the cacao choc one please! All of them sound delicious though, so it’s a hard decision to make!
Vanilla please
I would love to try any of the flavours but If I had to choose, I would prefer the coconut choc one as it would make a great addition to the kids morning keffir! Thank you!!
would LOVE the vanilla as we all love vanilla especially my kids 🙂
Congratulations Paola, Monique and Charmaine! You are the lucky winners and have been sent an email!
Awesome giveaway! We are big vanilla fans here so would love to try the vanilla flavour!! Xx
