One of my lovely readers got in touch a while ago and recommended Grampians Pure products for helping with acne. In fact, she raved about them!
You might remember the blog post I did about natural remedies for acne. The guys from Grampians Pure asked if I would like to try out their products. My son is 15 and has a lot of trouble with his skin, despite our best efforts with the natural stuff. So I was keen to find out if the products were as good as everyone was telling me they were!
Grampians Pure is an organic skin care company, based in the beautiful Grampians area of Victoria. They were formulated by Brian Rackham after he researched into skin care and soaps and found most do more harm than good. Read some more about that here.
“The Grampians Pure products, are actually pure, and made in a way so that the natural nutrients of the ingredients are not destroyed with heat. These products are actually good for the skin.”
I would have to say that I agree! Looking at the ingredients, there are no numbers or long scientific names. Just things like olive oil, goats milk, aromatherapy oils and nut and seed oils.
The products have gained a following of loyal fans! Not only do the products improve acne, but also they can improve dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema. But, you don’t have to have a skin problem to benefit.
So how did we go?
These are the products we have been using for the last couple of months and what we thought of them:
This cleanser is in a soap type form and contains Saponified Olive Oil, Fresh Whole Goat Milk , Volcanic Ash and Aroma Therapy Oils from Lavender and Lemongrass. You just lather a bit into your hands with some water and massage into the skin. We found it really quick and easy to use in the shower.
The Vitamin E Lotion contains Organic Almond Oil, Organic Wheat Germ Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Beeswax and Grapefruit Seed Extract. It takes a little while to sink into the skin, so it’s best to use at night time so you can relax and let it do it’s work. You only need to use a really tiny amount, so it is quite economical.
Well, my boy is a little shy about having his face all over the blog, so I wasn’t able to show you the results in photos. However, we did notice a significant improvement in his acne. It’s not 100% cleared up and clear, but it definitely looks a lot better than it did. He even asked me to order some more. My daughter also wanted to get in on the act as she is starting to get a few skin problems as well. I can honestly say that this range has given him the best results out of everything we have tried for his skin.
The products are not just for acne though, as I found out while using them. They feel really great on the skin – the cleanser left my face lovely and soft and without that dried out, tight feeling you normally get from soap. The Vitamin E lotion is my favourite. I noticed a lovely softening of my skin on my face, which had been feeling a little coarse lately. It also has brightened the tone a little and some old scars and marks have faded. I ordered another lot for myself to use too! That’s how you know something is really good – when you order it again.
What I really love about the products is that they really are pure. No loopholes, no nasties – just safe, natural ingredients. You know I also love small, family-run, Australian businesses too – who better to give your money to? These guys really are passionate about their products – Rien and Bob do the sales for Brian and they are really lovely blokes. They are happy to chat about all things natural and they really do walk the talk. You can see this in their blog and Facebook page.
The only downsides that I could see is the packaging. I would love to see the guys make them in larger sizes to last longer and reduce the packaging. The soaps come in cute little calico bags, but I am not sure the other packaging is environmentally friendly. Now I am being picky, but the website is a little hard to navigate and find what you are after – but don’t worry, Rien tells me there is a new website under construction.
