If you have kids, you will be very familiar with stain remover!!!
My Natural New Age Daughter (age 10) is the worst. I have no idea what she does, but she is always filthy! Instead of using expensive, chemical-laden stain removers from the supermarket, make your own natural version. It is incredibly, almost embarassingly, easy and I bet you already have everything you need.
So, this is what you need:
1/4 cup 100% pure eucalyptus essential oil
1 cup filtered water
1 spray bottle
So this is how you do it:
Pour the oil and water into the spray bottle and shake well. Label it and keep it away from kids. Even essential oils can be dangerous if ingested, particularly those that aren’t food grade. To use, just spray liberally on the stain. I like to wait a few minutes before I throw it into the wash.
If stains are really bad and don’t come out the first time, you can soak clothes in a capful (thats a capful, not a cupful!) of oil and water overnight. I have never had any clothes react badly to eucy oil, but if it’s your favourite outfit, you might want to do a spot test first!
Eucalyptus has great anti-bacterial properties so a capful into your wash is really handy if you need to kill any bugs that might be lingering around on your clothes. It’s great to use with towels and linens too, especially if someone has been sick. I always use a capful in a hot wash when doing sheets to kill any dust mites.
Such an amazing oil ! It is also useful for colds and flu. A great, all-purpose wonder oil that every family should have!
Aaaagh. I was elbow deep in my eucalyptus oil today trying to remove a texter stain from my son’s school shirt and it wouldn’t budge. Any tips??? Thanks Annie xx
Hmm….I am sure I have used it on texta at some stage… not a permanent marker though! Try soaking it overnight?
Thank you for that, I’ll give it a try.
I have an option, but I’m not sure its a NNAM approved one – but it works!!
My son rolled over a green texta on his school shirt – I used hairspray to get it out!!
Basically, you wet the stained area, then spray hairspray on it, and dab it with a paper towel to soak up the stain – also put a wad of paper towel or a dark towel under the item to stop it bleeding onto any of the fabric underneath.
See this link:

My co-worker got a huge blob of black permanent marker on her white work shirt – also removed with hairspray and elbow grease!
The link also mentions using MILK as a stain remover – havent tried this
one, so I dont know if it works…..
I would need to buy hairspray and then spray it ! uggh! LOL 🙂
Maggie got something strange on her pants at the park last week and it wouldn’t come out it the wash, so I’ll give this a try. Thanks 🙂
I add some tea tree oil or lavender to my laundry wash, but will definitely try the eucalyptus as well. Thanks for sharing.
the eucy is good for stains but love the tea tree and lavender for disenfecting too!
I use eucyluptus oil in the wash & also in my home made general cleaning spray. Its great – gets things clean without the chemicals.
Awesome Hannah – it kills off dust mites too!
i also use as an air freshner when cleaning my house & i spray the potty with it (after wiping clean) 🙂
I am not actually a big fan of the smell but I do use other oils around the house in water! it is very good for the toilet and bathroom to kill off any bugs 🙂
this is my kitchen cleaner recipe and my bathroom cleaner and hrmmm about pretty much everything else recipe…especially if ive been to lazy to boil up my soap nuts lol
It’s amazing isn’t it! Nature provides!
Just wondering if it is safe to use on the bath and wouldn’t harm my 6 month old once used on the bath? thanks
on the bath?

that is amazing!!!!!! I am so touched. xxx
Does this stain remover work on grease stains? I seem to get a lot of them while cooking and find that no matter what I use as a stain remover that it doesn’t work. Thanks.
Yes, it does! you might have to soak though as well
Is it better to use the Eucalyptus oil you pictured above, or the water-soluble version you can also buy at the supermarket??
I have both..
Might be time to try and finally de-stain the cuff and collar grime from the boys winter school uniforms before they go away til next winter….
no clue ! try both and tell me which is better!!
I had eucalyptus oil in my case and it leaked out on a smart jacket. A huge stain resulted, which has now dried. How can I remove it?
I’m not sure Leona, usually eucy oil is a stain remover! Maybe a dry cleaner would be able to help, especially if it’s a special jacket.
