I thought I would share our Christmas Eve dinner menu with you in this blog post.
We normally do a fancy hot dinner for Christmas Eve and set the table nicely. Christmas Day is more relaxed and casual with some sort of cold meat or seafood, salads and fruit.
I would love you to share your ideas, links and recipes for your Christmas dinners with me as well.
Jamie Oliver’s Pork Belly Roast. We always have roast pork for Christmas Eve. It’s become a bit of a tradition. The kids love the crispy crackling and I don’t make it often, so it’s a real treat. We have sourced some beautiful free range pork from a local farmer and I am so looking forward to making this recipe from Jamie Oliver.
I have never made a pork belly roast before, so it should be interesting! The tip to get really crispy crackling is to leave the pork uncovered in the fridge overnight to really dry it out. Then rub in a generous amount of macadamia oil and sea salt into the scored skin and cook it on a high temperature for the first 20 minutes.

Crisp Potato Gratin. Instead of roasted vegetables, I found this slightly different take on hasselback potatoes (a favourite of mine from childhood!). It’s basically the potatoes cut in hasselback style, with an onion, pancetta and thyme flavouring, cooked in stock. My mouth is just watering thinking about it!

Roasted Beetroot and Apple Salad. Yum. This salad has all my favourite things. Roasted beetroots, wafer thin apple slices, rocket, pecans and a mustardy dressing. Something a bit different to the old green salad!

Caramel Macadamia Cheesecake. I always make a nice dessert for Christmas Eve. The bonus is, there is always leftovers for the next few days! This raw, dairy-free ‘cheesecake’ is also from The Whole Pantry. I adore raw cheesecakes and think they are better than regular cheesecakes. I am lucky enough to source bulk macadamias from a local farmer and they are so delicious – probably my most favourite nut.

Ooohhh I like the look of that salad. We have a breakfast and then a lunch, neither at our place, so I have no idea what is on the menu, but I’m just happy not to have to make anything! 🙂
Have a wonderful Christmas.
Robyn xx
I hope you get something nice and vego! x
With German parents, Christmas Eve is always a big deal for our family. The formal table is set with the Rosenthal crockery and Ridel glasses for a feast of prawns, bugs, cray, fresh fruit and then plum pudding. Thankfully my parents don’t make us have that horrible cod dish that is so traditional. 🙂
That sounds amazing Nikki! Yum x
