The lovely girls at Stickybeaks are joining in the back to school fun this week and giving away some of their fabulous lunch bags!!
So, who are Stickybeaks?
Stickybeaks are an Aussie owned business, started by four mums who were looking for an eco-friendly alternative to all those paper bags used to order tuckshop lunches.
So, what’s the problem with paper bags?
Well, they are a single use item and many trees are cut down and resources used to make them and transport them. Although they are recyclable, there are many that don’t get recycled and they end up adding to landfill. They are also prone to getting wet and tearing and don’t have a safe, hygienic option for money.
Instead of a single use paper bag, Stickybeaks bags can be used over and over again for tuckshop orders. They are really durable and strong and made of the same material as green bags.
How does it work?
Being school mums, these ladies have thought of everything. The lunch order is written on a slip of paper and inserted into the plastic window. Money is kept hygienically separate in a zippered section.
I love that you can print out free lunch order slips and name tags on the website. They have also thought of the tuckshop staff and they stand up on their own for easy packing and handling. Great idea.
You can get the lunch bags with different coloured edging, so each child in the family can have their own bag (although sometimes it’s easier to get all the one colour to avoid fights… you know what I am talking about, right mums?).
The wallet style folds up quite small but still holds more than a paper bag.
The insulated all-rounder is a good option if you need to keep the food hot or cold.
My kids both used them and liked them. They are easy to clean, just needing a wipe out and I love that they are black so they don’t look scruffy after a bit of use!
I also really love the absolutely brilliant fundraising option they have. What a great idea for getting much needed funds for the school, avoiding junk food fundraisers and being eco-friendly all at the same time. The Stickybeak’s mums will give you a discounted price, a flat rate for postage and lots of help to run an easy, successful fundraiser. If you are ordering just for yourself, the postage is free!
They are in 600 schools across Australia already. Impressive.

Love the idea of making canteens paperless, and teaching our kids and schools to conserve the environment. It’s such a brilliant idea, and any parent who uses lunch orders should support this little business!
I would love to present this idea to the fundraising committee at school. As a regular canteen helper, I know these bags would make life easier for the kitchen staff and save money and the environment by not having to use paper bags.
What an awesome idea, best school lunch related idea I’ve seen for ages. I would love to win this as I don’t often let my year 1 daughter have lunch orders or buy from the canteen as I worry about her losing the money. This would prevent me worrying about her losing money her whilst also been environmentally friendly.
I have my first child, my daughter starting prep in 11 days and am planning on buying one for her, but winning one would be fabulous. I have printed out pictures and the write up on these and am joining the parents group and this is my topic post – stickybeaks. Thanks for the best idea ever to hit school canteens!!!! I just wish these were around 20 years ago 🙂
What a fantastic idea this is. Would love to give this product a go to help cut down on waste as well as save money for the school
The Stickybeak’s prize pack would be incredibly useful. I love re-usable & this looks like such a quality product.
It is such an awesome idea. Would like to win one for my little miss to use for daycare lunch, like the idea of no waste!
Love that they are insulted and the printable orders and name tages, no waste… Brilliant
We have a Laptop Lunchbox, which we love, but they’re obviously no good for tuck shop orders. One of these bags would also be great when not everything fits into the lunchbox. What a fantastic idea! 🙂
Oh be a “greenie” at heart, I’d love really to be the first at the kids school to be using these and then spreading the word!!! 🙂
What a wonderful idea! I could finally take that “paper bag of my head” and stand proud with my new environmentally friendly lunch wallet and insulated all rounder. I’d also proudly spread the word to any interested “Stickybeaks” that took an interest in them!
i would love to win one of these as I care about the environment and also they are so practical!
I would love to win one of these for my niece who is starting school this year, she could be an eco friendly role model for all her new friends.
I think what sold me was the money is separated so isn’t cross contaminating anything, very very clever!
I would love to win these.. We don’t have paper bags at home as we don’t order from the tuck shop regularly but to send these when we do would be fantastic! What a great idea.
I don’t know how many times my son has come home and said he had a sandwich for lunch from the tuckshop because he forgot to put in his lunch order. And the times he has remembered, the change gets put in the bag with the food (yuck, unhygenic) and often he throws the bag away, along with the change, into the rubbish bin.
We would love one of these Stickybeaks packs. Keeps the lunches hot during winter, nothing worse than a cold pie, keeps the change separate from the food, and the bag ensures that orders won’t be forgotten or thrown away afterwards. Multiple usage, week after week and our son can finally get the treats that he ordered and wanted, rather than a boring old sandwich that I could have sent.
Both hands are up and waving – we would love one of these!!
These products would encourage my family and I to take healthy homemade lunches with us everyday.
This looks like a great lunch box solution and also money saving idea.
What a great idea! This would be a great fundraising idea for schools. Love that it is insulated and reusable as my little Mr predictable always orders the same thing!
Mr5 starts school at the beginning of next month, and it would be great to have one of these to set a new trend at the school, get all his new friends interested and even get the school talking about the fundraising option, to further reduce everyone’s waste!
By keeping the food fresh and appealing by the time lunch comes around will encourage the kids to eat whats good for them!
Love this idea! Thank-you for being pro-active to help and educate our children about the environment. I love the fact there is space for a name and they are easy to clean
They’re awesome lunch bags which save our planet. The insulated all-rounder to keep the food hot or cold and just wipe to clean are my favourite two features.
I would love this for my partner who is a teacher and when he takes containers to school they disappear!
We’d love this in our house. We are trying to reduce our carbon footprint and our food bill., so one of these fab lunch bags would be perfect!
As a family we are switching from single-use items to reusable alternatives. This would be great for the times my kiddies have lunch orders and stop the use of paper bags. It would also make it easier for my kids to work out which lunch order is theirs
My daughter has food allergies so when she has the ‘lunch order’ from the canteen. It’s usually something I’ve made from home and the canteen heats it up for her. So that way she feels like all the other kids. Brown paper bags just don’t seem to cut it when trying to keep the heat in. This gret lunch bag is a must have for my miss 7.
I LOVE this idea!! My eldest is starting Prep next week (sob!) and these would be absolutely fabulous for her at Big School! Love the idea of creating less rubbish 🙂
I’m a blog subscriber and already like Stickybeaks. would love to win one Miss 6 would love to use this a lunch bag, we don’t do lunch orders as there is nothing that is suitable for her at her school canteen.
I NEED one of these lunch bags for my whole family what a fabulous idea! Keeping our lunch cool in this qld heat! trendy and versatile a must for all families!
My baby starts prep next week and I am aiming for a rubbish free lunchbox – I’d like to eliminate extra waste if she has a tuckshop day each week too
With 5 kids at school this would be awesome for us, we live in Brissy and this would keep their lunches nice and cold. I absolutely love the reusable tuck shop bag, what a fantastic idea 🙂
would love to be considered in Stickybeaks Lunch Bag Giveaway…..
as in the last 6 mths my family and i have dramatically tried to reduce, reuse and recycle almost everything on a daily basis. 🙂
Oh wow what an awesome idea, ticks all the boxes, grezt for the canteen treat day and so versatile for the homemade lunch days
Would love to win this. My child is now 8 and refuses to use the kiddy lunchbags we have for her. And the school she’s in uses paperbags, so when we actually have a sample to show the school, maybe they will do a fundraise and convert all their paper bags to this system. This would be perfect to win in time for the new school year. Lovely and innovative.
Anything that reduces waste is great in my book. I would love to have a stickybeak at these lunch bags 😉
Basically just trying to become more Eco friendly in our house and this is just another step in the right direction.
We try not use paper or plastic bags / glad wrap in our house and would love this prize pack to start my sons first year at school. I love teaching all of my kids about reusing even the extended family gets educated when they stay at our place!
The versatility of having a bag that you could use for orders and also for your packed lunch makes these an absolute winner.
I love that the product is reusable….no more looking around for paperbags and also reducing waste. Also great for pre-school lunch bag as I find that cold items (eg yogurt) make the paper bag go soggy. None of that problem with a Stickybeak lunch bag.
I’d love to win as we use a paper bag every day at preschool to separate morning tea from lunch and every day as I transfer morning tea into a brown paper bag I have horrid feelings of guilt about the number of trees being felled just for this simple task – what a great solution these bags are!
Oh these look fantastic!! One of those ‘I can’t believe I didn’t think of that!’ items!
My girls are always complaining that their brown paper bags are falling apart by the time they get their lunch order so these would be awesome. I was thinking how great they would be as a fundraiser, glad to read that that is an option, I’ll be suggesting these to our school for sure =) Thanks!
This is a wonderful idea & would be perfect for my son’s school as they encourage ‘nude food’ as in trying cut down waste such as plastic bags. Fantastic idea
Practical, eco and so very functional. Could be dangerous as my kids would be requesting regular canteen lunches and honestly I’d be happy to send them off this this ripper of a brown bag replacement.
Love this fab product for so many reasons! Eco friendly, hygienic, easy to use, attractive. And the insulated bag is perfect for keeping school lunches fresh – love it!
With a Stickybeaks lunch bag my daughter can be assured of a yummy canteen lunch & can spread the word to all her stickybeak friends to spread the Stickybeaks message far & wide, which will ensure Stickybeaks bags are used everywhere!! Pretty please.
