100% Jojoba + Rosehip Oil Review and Giveaway

August 4, 2015 · 68 Comments

100% Jojoba + Rosehip Oil Review and Giveaway

I was pretty excited to find out that The Jojoba Company had a new product out combining two of my favourite things – jojoba oil and rose hip oil!

I have been trialling it for the last month or so and love it. I am also giving you all a chance to win some and a discount code to try it for yourself.

Okay, so what is in it?

It’s rare to find skincare with only two ingredients, but in 100% Natural Jojoba and Rosehip Oil, that is exactly what you get. Just jojoba seed oil and rosehip seed oil.

100% Natural Jojoba and Rose Hip Oil

What’s so great about these oils?

Well, jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax, very similar to the wax sebum on our skin. This enables it to penetrate to the deeper layers of our skin. It is also a powerful antioxidant and contains vitamins A, D and E and omegas 6 and 9. Jojoba is naturally antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and hypoallergenic so it’s amazing for all sorts of skin ailments from acne to cradle cap!

Rosehip oil has long been recognized as mother nature’s secret weapon for wrinkles and scaring! Being high in Vitamin A, it’s great for skin rejuvenation and healing.

Combining the two oils allows the rosehip to really get deep into our skin alongside the jojoba, making it work even better. It also extends the shelf life of rose hip oil which can go rancid easily. It’s a fantastic synergy!

So, who makes it?

I love this company and have featured them before on the website. The Jojoba Company is an all Aussie family business. Ian Turner and his family planted their first jojoba crop in Yenda, NSW in 2008 and have gone on to produce beautiful cold pressed oil for use in their skincare range. Find out more about the farm here.

The ethical practices and philosophy also appeal to me. They never test on animals or use animal derivatives and there are no nasty toxins in any of the products.

What’s it like to use?

I am always a bit nervous about oils for my skin as having oily skin for most of my younger life meant that I really used to shy away from adding any more oil! Some face oils I have used take absolutely ages to sink in and leave a shiny layer on your skin that doesn’t look particularly attractive and makes applying makeup impossible.

I have been using the 100% Natural Jojoba and Rosehip Oil morning and night and I love it. The scent is very subtle and slightly woody floral (hard to explain!). Some rosehip oil products I have used smell so bad I can’t stand it on my skin so this is the first thing I check.

It’s also not a thick claggy oil (well, it’s actually wax remember), it’s very light in texture, spreads easily and sinks straight into the skin. I love the feeling it gives my skin – it’s soft and plump after applying. I feel like my skin is really sucking up all that hydration. I haven’t been getting that tight feeling that some moisturisers leave you with – you know, when you feel like you need another application.

Okay, tell me how much it’s going to cost?

You know I am a low-maintenance sort of girl and I don’t believe in paying ridiculous prices for skincare!  I am loving that this product is only $24.95!! Even better, you only use 2 or 3 drops each time, so it lasts for ages. No fancy gimmicks or marketing spin, just two beautiful oils from mother nature.

What are the negatives?

I am actually struggling to find anything about this product that I don’t like. My only suggestion to The Jojoba Company is that I would love to see some greener packaging using recycled materials.

Where do you get it?

You can shop online straight from the company at their website, The Jojoba Company or you can check out their store locator to find a retailer near you. The range is in health food stores (Healthy Life and Go Vita), pharmacies and salons/spas around the country.

Would I buy it with my own money?

Absolutely! In fact, I am going to buy myself another bottle this week. Unfortunately due to an incident involving my teenage son and my dastardly dachshund (don’t even ask) my bottle has been prematurely used up! I really, really love it. I had just started rubbing it into the back of my hands that are showing a few signs of pigmentation and ageing. I will keep you posted on how that goes on my Facebook page.

Five Favourite Things – November

November 30, 2012 · 60 Comments

November was a month of spiritual growth and change for me.

How was it for you?

Here are some things that floated my boat this month.

Rose-Hip Plus’s new rosehip oil. I love rose-hip oil – it’s mother nature’s best kept anti-wrinkle secret! I was lucky enough to receive some of this new oil to try out. What I am loving the most is that it is not only affordable, Australian and certified organic, but it’s cold pressed. That means the oil is extracted from the seeds of the rosehip plant, without using heat, solvent and chemicals. You only need 3 or 4 drops, massaged into your skin, twice daily to see benefits. It is amazing for healing scars, keeping your skin nice and soft and minimizing the wrinkles! Unlike other rosehip oil I have tried, this one has a very light, pleasant fragrance. Have a read here for some more information about rose-hip oil. You can get it online straight from the company or find a local stockist. Throw away those expensive, chemical-laden wrinkle serums and embrace the rose-hip!

Would you like to try it? You can win a bottle for yourself! Simply make sure you are a blog SUBSCRIBER (add email to the top right hand side), go and LIKE the Rose-Hip Plus Facebook page (go here) and leave me a COMMENT on this blog post telling me what BENEFIT of Rose-Hip Plus appeals to you the most. Please read the terms and conditions at the bottom of the post too.

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS NOW CLOSED. THE WINNER WAS CLARE!

Soul awakening program. I have spent the last month on the phone with Megan from Your Intuitive Family every Wednesday night, learning more about myself! It has been a life-changing experience.  Starting with a soul-guidance blueprint, I learnt who I was at soul level and what I was here on this earth to do. Megan identifies any blockages and obstacles that are holding you back and how to eliminate those. I had several beautiful guided meditations where I met one of my angel guides (this blew me away) and my animal spirit guides. If you are feeling lost or confused, I really recommend thinking about doing this with Megan. I feel so much more confident in my abilities and the direction my life is taking. I know that I have a team of angels and guides helping me and I can call on them for assistance at any time. I am more at peace with myself and life. Megan is truly a special soul with an extraordinary talent (look at the cheeky grin too!) Check her out on Facebook here. Guess what the Natural New Age Dad is getting for Christmas!!

Vegie Smugglers new e-book. Wendy makes healthy eating ridiculously easy with her 6 week meal plans. Eat well with 38 recipes and shopping lists. Get the family involved on the Ipad or Kindle and pick your dinners together for a bit of fun. Great price too! I love a bit of vegie-smuggling, especially now my daughter is being fussy again at age 11. Go here to check it out.

Rawganic’s Hibiscus Raw Chocolate. What, you think I could go a month without chocolate appearing on these posts??? Raw chocolate is sooooo good! This one from Rawganic is no exception. I found it at my local health food store, but you can buy it online. Smooth and fudgy with a hint of tangy dried hibiscus flowers – very exotic! This is chocolate that you feel virtuous eating – raw, organic and vegan. Bring it on! Check them out on Facebook or on the web.

Chi Coconut Water. Scott from Chi Coconut Water contacted me this month and asked if I would like to try their coconut water. To be honest, I was less than enthusiastic! I have tried coconut water before and I wasn’t a fan – sure I could see the benefits and it’s okay in a smoothie, but it tasted pretty feral to me. Anyway, the Natural New Age Dad likes it, so I said, yeah, send me some and we will check it out. Well, it turns out I do like coconut water. But I like Chi Coconut Water! It’s really yummy and very different to that other brand (who shall remain nameless) that I tried. Chi is 100% Pure Coconut Water with no added sugar or preservatives. It’s high potassium and packed with electrolytes which keep your body rehydrated, especially if you have been exercising. It’s nature’s original sports drink. You can get in online or find a stockist.

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS NOW CLOSED. THE WINNERS WERE JADE, ADRIENNE AND KIRA!

Would you like to try it to? Scott is giving away 3 prizes of a case of 12, 330ml Chi Coconut water!  Simply make sure you are a blog SUBSCRIBER (add email to the top right hand side), go and LIKE the Chi Coconut Water-Australia Facebook page (go here) and COMMENT on this blog post – tell me, after doing WHAT activity you would most need to drink Chi Coconut Water (keep it clean people! 😉 ) Please read the terms and conditions at the bottom of the post too.

So, those are my five most favourite things this month, before we head into the silly season. What were your favourites this month?

Please note: This post contains affiliate links.
Terms and conditions of giveaways: Only open to Australian residents. Closes on Friday the 7th of December at midnite. Winners will be chosen from those meeting the entry requirements using random.org. Please make a note on your calender to check your emails on this date to see if the winner was you! Winners are announced on this blog post and also emailed. Good luck!

Five Favourite Things – July

July 30, 2012 · 8 Comments

July. Winter. Snuggling. Comfort food. Hibernating. Trying to find the sun.

Here are some things that I have been in love with this month. ♥

Wendy Blume’s amazing “Breakfast on the go biscuits” recipe from the Vegie Smugglers 2 cookbook. This recipe has two ingredients – cereal and egg white (I don’t use the sugar). It is super quick and easy to make and it doubles as a great kid’s snacks or breakfast in the car for those mental mornings! I use Freedom Foods Ancient Grains Super Muesli gluten-free cereal and organic eggs. Seriously yummy.

Be Gorgeous rosehip oil from Naturlea. Rosehip oil has become my new best friend. It is nature’s best kept beauty secret! I have been using rosehip oil for some time and then got the opportunity to try this brand after winning it in a Facebook competition!  I adore it. Jacqui from Naturlea  has combined beautiful rose geranium essential oil with the organic rosehip oil so it smells heavenly (and not earthy like plain rosehip oil).  Rosehip oil is good for promoting collagen, reducing scarring and stretch marks, fighting skin ageing, lightening pigmentation and rehydrating. If you are over 30, you need to get into this stuff – it has made my skin glow!

Natural Calm Drink. The lovely ladies at Natural Vitality sent me some of this to try out. It is a great way to make sure you are getting enough magnesium and calcium in your diet, in the right combination. Did you know that magnesium deficiency can cause stress, fatigue, insomnia, anxiousness, irritability, muscle cramps, headaches, PMS and hormonal imbalance? I pretty much had all of those things! Together with taking regular epsom salts baths, my symptoms have eased right off. If you think you might be magnesium deficient, get it checked out with your medical practitioner or naturopath!

Kundalini Yoga Fire Breath. We have been doing lots of the fire breath in my yoga class. It feels a bit weird to do at first, but I love how it makes me feel. It is so energizing and really gets your blood pumping with all the extra oxygen. Some of the benefits include releasing anxiety, nervousness and emotions, flushing toxins out of the blood stream, massaging internal organs and expanding your lung capacity! It’s a great remedy for those mid-afternoon energy slumps. Don’t do the fire breath if you are pregnant or menstruating though! See how to do it here.  Give it a go and tell me what you think.

My husband (aka Natural New Age Dad). I actually love him every month of the year! However, this month we have been really focusing on our relationship. Life, kids, work and ill-health can all get in the way of making our marriage a priority. We have had some hiccups. As our kids head into teen years though, we find things are changing. We finally have more time for ourselves, my son is old enough to babysit his sister and we have been hanging out together a lot! Date nights, yoga classes, romantic walks, dinner, movies, holding hands ….. it’s been blissful. I feel like I am falling in love with my husband all over again. I highly recommend it. ♥

So, that is my favourite five, what are some things you have been loving this month?

You might like to read some of my other favourite things.
