Love List ~ October 2017

October 8, 2017 · 2 Comments

I haven’t done a LOVE LIST in forever.

Actually it’s been nearly a year to the day since I did the last one!

I had a bit of a break from posting this year while I was getting my health sorted out. Now that I am feeling a bit better, I am trying to keep up with posting once a week. Remember the days when I used to smash out three a week!?

Anyhooooo…. I have had so many things in that time that I have been wanting to share with you, so it’s a bumper edition this time around. I hope you enjoy it!

♥ Antipodes Juliet Cleanser

Antipodes is a gorgeous NZ natural skincare brand. This is the first time I have tried anything in the range and I love the cleanser so much. It’s a breeze to use and it leaves my skin feeling soft, clean and fresh. It combines exfoliating action into the gel cleanser so you are doing two steps in one!

My daughter who has blemish prone skin keeps stealing it too. I love that it’s in a big 200g size so it lasts longer and it’s affordable too.

Check it out here.

♥ Kinderfeets Kinderboard

How awesome is this!!! I need an adult one.

These stunning Scandinavian Kinderfeets balance boards are made from eco-friendly beech wood. They were created to help children develop a sense of balance, stimulate their vestibular system and gain a deeper awareness of their body and body parts. It can help improve mental focus and functional strength.

You can rock it. Balance on it. Push it. Spin it. Flip it and slide. Nap, relax and read on it. Use it as a play house for toys or as a bench seat. Let the kid’s imagination run wild with it!

Brilliant for kids with sensory processing disorders, on the spectrum or with special needs. These have been selling out around Australia so be quick if you are interested!

Find out more here.

♥ Mellow Deodorant Paste

The awesome peeps at Happy Skincare have released another in their Woohoo range of natural deodorant pastes. This one is a bicarb-free, essential-oil free version. It’s perfect for all you sensitive souls who react!

In their typically generous fashion, Aaron and Phoebe are giving away their new product whenever you order something over $50!

Check it out here.

♥ Lemon Canary Tea

With Pukka being taken over by Unilever (check out our convo on Facebook about it), many people are now looking for alternatives. Personally, I love buying things from small businesses that handmake their products – there is just that extra love and passion that goes into it.

I recently bought the sample pack of all the teas from Lemon Canary to see what they were like and I am not disappointed!!! Jasmin has hand-crafted an organic, loose leaf range of blends including Love, Mystic, Happy, Meditate (awesome chai), Grateful, Summer, Winter, Dinner Party and Australiana. The packaging is so gorgeous and they would make perfect gifts.

Check them out here.

♥ Tuff Stuff Stain Removing Soap

I bought some of this stain removing soap about 18 months ago at an expo and was wondering how I was going to get another one. Luckily Julie at Flora and Fauna is now selling them!

They are amazing! You just wet it and rub it on the stain – the mesh bag helps to get right into the stain as a scrubber and the stains just wash out. It even worked on a pair of my daughter’s work jeans that had some really black and greasy patches. Julie mentions that a lot of people are using it for nappies and reusable cloth pads. The Tuff Stuff is a great price and lasts ages.

Check it out here.

♥ Eco by Sonya Rosehip Sunscreen

Do you hate the ghost look when using sunscreen?? My hubby often walks around looking like something out of the Walking Dead much to the embarrassment of the teens. 😀

Sonya Driver from Eco by Sonya has a new sunscreen out that solves that problem. This non-zinc, non-greasy formula rubs in clear but sill has broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, a SPF30 and a water resistant rating of 3 hours.

Find it here.

♥ Lilypad Reusable Covers

The lovely girls at Biome sent me out one of these to try and I love it!! It’s a BPA free, food-grade silicone cover (inspired by lily pads!). You can convert any bowl you own to an air-tight sealed container for the fridge. It fits onto any smooth rim bowl or pot including glass, ceramic, wood, stainless and more.

You can even put it in the oven or microwave if you want to and you could even use it as a splatter guard. Whack it in the top shelf of the dishwasher when you are done. So brilliant.

Check it out here.

♥ Free Gut Health Video Series

Cyndi O’Meara from Changing Habits has teamed up with Kirsty Wirth from Kultured Wellness to bring us a free four part information series on gut health. I am in the midst of my own gut healing adventure and I am starting to discover that bad gut health is the the cause of so many health issues. It’s not just poor digestion, it’s fatigue, brain fog, mental health and more.  It all comes back to the gut!

I have registered and got my spot and can’t wait to learn more from these amazing ladies. When you sign up, they also give you a free ebook with healing gut recipes. Winning.

Check it out here.

♥ Aroma Leather Bracelet

This is on my Christmas wish list!! They are a leather and stainless steel aroma diffusing bracelet. A stylish  and safe way to wear aromatherapy oils without touching your skin. There is a felt pad in the stainless steel locket bit that you put a few drops of oil on.

Find out more here.

♥ Low Carb Healthy Fat Cookbook

I’m not a Pete Evans fan in particular, but I do like his recipes! Having to do months of gut repair and a strict diet, I was getting really bored with it but some new recipes have really helped keep me motivated. You definitely don’t have to be attempting to lose weight or be on a low carb diet to enjoy this book. The recipes are just simple, family friendly type food (that just happens to be low carb and high fat).

I have made a few things already and everyone has been impressed. I usually pop the photos on Instagram if you are interested – but be warned, I don’t do fancy styling or anything, I just take a quick photo before we eat!

Check the book out here.

That will probably be my last love list for the year now as I gear up for my Christmas Gift Guides – which really are a love list with more of a gift giving focus. Let me know if you have something that would be perfect for a Christmas gift!

Five Favourite Things – September

September 25, 2013 · 152 Comments

Ahh September, eagerly awaited spring time!

I have five amazing things to show you this month and to celebrate spring, one of you has the chance to win all of them!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Natrapest Orange Guard. I am very excited to now have a natural alternative to pest control for all the crawling bugs! We haven’t had a pest spray in years and living in an old house, the cockroaches have started appearing in our downstairs area. The Orange Guard is totally natural – made from orange peel so it’s safe around kids and pets. It’s water-based, so it doesn’t ruin your paintwork. I also love that they use recyclable packaging and that it’s biodegradable. We will never use toxic pesticides again!

Check out the NatraPest website or Facebook page – they also have natural flea traps and a bed moat!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sinchies. Okay so I am a bit slow on the uptake as it seems everyone in Australia has tried these except me! So the idea is that you use these reusable pouches to fill with homemade goodness instead of buying the expensive pouches of stuff at the supermarket that are full of rubbish! There are so many things you can fill them with and they are perfect for baby and toddler food. My 12yo made up some thermomix custard (we use coconut sugar to make it caramely) and took it to school. She thought they were cool! Now one of my first queries was are they free from BPA, Phtalates and PVC? And yes, they are!

You can get them directly online at the Sinchies website and check out their Facebook page too.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Aromatherapy Salt Lamp. This gorgeous aromatherapy salt lamp from Inspire Me Naturally combines two of my greatest loves – essential oils and Himalayan salt! You just pop a couple of drops of your favourite oil in the top bit and it will diffuse from the heat of the lightbulb. There are so many benefits of salt lamps, including purifying the air, eliminating odours, reducing EMFs, enhancing the immune system, reducing stress and depression, increasing mental alertness, helping with sleep problems and also improving hay fever, asthma, allergies and sinus related problems! They work as natural negative ion generators when heated with the lightbulb. I know I always feel recharged after being around one for a few hours. Love!

Check out the Inspire Me Naturally website to buy the salt lamps directly online and find Janice on Facebook.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Re-usable Bread Bag. I am loving my new bread bag from the lovely Rebecca at 4 My Earth. They are perfect for storing your homemade loaves of bread! They are okay to put in the fridge or freezer and they are really strong and durable. You can chuck them in the washing machine or dishwasher as well. Brilliant. Actually, I am loving the size of them so much, I think they would also be great for storing veges and other bits and pieces. No more plastic bags needed!

You can get them online at the 4 My Earth website and also check out the Facebook page.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Tea Flask. Cheeki, who make my favourite stainless steel water bottles, have just released their new tea flask! Hello! What a perfect idea for taking to early morning kid’s sport or just to have a hot drink safely around the kids. It keeps hot for about 6 hours. The interior is made from stainless steel and the top is a BPA free plastic. You can use tea leaves as there is a stainless steel infuser included or just use tea bags.  A brilliant way to avoid takeaway cups! Love.

Find more details at the Cheeki website or Facebook page. You can find them at health food stores or online eco-stores.

Five Favourite Things – August

August 30, 2013 · 12 Comments

August has been a month of sunny winter days here – absolute bliss!

Here are some other things I have been loving and enjoying this month:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Gluten Free Grain Free cookbook. I am putting it out there – Tania Hubbard is Australia’s gluten free, grain free goddess! She was kind enough to post me a copy of her sensational cookbook and I am loving it so much. Tania is the brains behind that amazing almond and chia bread recipe and the chocolate chia cake. The recipes are quick and easy and they taste sensational. I am such a fan! You can get the book straight from Tania at her website.

Stress Away from Young Living

Stress Away from Young Living. I don’t know if you have been feeling the energy shifts and changes this month, but I sure have!  One thing that I always use to help me ride out the storm is the ‘Stress Away’ blend of essential oils. You can take two drops in water and ingest it as needed or diffuse it in a room, but I like to just dab it on my wrists and temples and inhale the beautiful oils. This special blend is designed to relieve daily stress, encourage relaxation, and reduce nervous tension. The roll on is really handy to keep in your handbag.  You can get Stress Away from me at my new Young Living website page. ( you need to join as a new customer to order )

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Changing Habits Probiotic. This month I have bought some of Cyndi O’Meara’s probiotic powder to test it out. I take a daily probiotic powder and so do my family. This one however is gluten-free so it will suit a lot of you who have been asking me about probiotic powders free of wheat. I think it’s a fabulous product and it works really well for us.

This one contains all organic ingredients – rice, spirulina, linseed, alfalfa, sweet potato, sunflower kernels, quinoa, alfalfa, amaranth, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, ginger, broccoli and molasses. These ingredients go through an organic fermentation process using natural, organic bacteria. Find out some more info in this video. You can get it from my affiliate shop link here.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Re-usable Teabag. I really am fussy about the teabags I buy. Some teabags are bleached or made of plastic (which is not so good when you hit it with boiling water!) I was really excited to come across these handmade reusable teabags from local lady, Jo who runs a cute little cafe at the markets. She makes them herself from muslin – you just insert your loose leaf tea and away you go! It is easier to wait for the teabag to dry before emptying it out. Find out more about Jo at her Facebook page, Cafe Calma. She might even post one to you!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Pomelo. Where have you been all my life? Fat, juicy and sweet, bursting with vitality. It doesn’t give you that sourpuss look like eating grapefruit does. It’s sweet and sort of lemonadey tasting. They are native to South East Asia but we have some lovely local farmers growing them here. I am hooked! Anyone else like pomelos? Have you got any recipes?

I would love to hear some things you have discovered or are loving this month! Talk to me!

Five Favourite Things – July

July 31, 2013 · 10 Comments

I have been enjoying the gorgeous sunny winter days here in Queensland this month!

Here are some other things I have been loving.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

♥ Waters Co Water Filter

A huge purchase  for us this month, but it’s worth it! Working out at 2c a litre, it’s much cheaper than the nearly $1 per litre I was paying for cask water! I have been doing a lot of research into water filters over the last year and this one was my pick. I thought a bench top one is better in case we move house and I can take it on holidays. This one filters out chlorine and fluoride and remineralizes and alkalizes the water as well. Oh and it tastes really lovely and pure. Happy.

Find out more about the Waters Co Bio Mineral Pot Water Filter.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

♥ Tooth Tonic

I met Maya, the brains behind Tooth Tonic at the Mind, Body, Spirit Festival and she kindly offered me one to try out. We love it! Even my daughter is using it every day. So, what is it? Tooth Tonic is a blend of essential oils that you use on your toothbrush instead of toothpaste. It leaves your mouth wonderfully fresh and zingy. The blend is antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory so it’s good for treating gingivitis too.

Get more info and buy direct from Maya online at her website.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

♥ Dog-Eared Lotus Necklace

I was lucky enough to win this gorgeous sterling silver necklace on the Kindred Gifts Facebook page. It’s so fine and delicate and I resonate with the beautiful spiritual meanings of the lotus flower. I love wearing it ! They have many other charms in the range too.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

♥ Honey Bush Tea

I bought this tea at our local markets and thought the Natural New Age Dad might like it. He has has gone totally caffeine free now! It tastes like a cross between rooibos and black tea with a slight honey taste. We drink it black and unsweetened. When I did a bit of a google about it, I also discovered it has loads of health benefits! Win!

It has 14 minerals and heaps of antioxidants and is good for everything from colds and flu, menopause, candida, weight management and indigestion.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

♥ Sodashi Calming Rose Face Mist

This was yet another Facebook prize (I know, the Universe is smiling on me!) I am loving this beautiful face mist. I am a sucker for anything rose scented -it’s so feminine. The spray is great to refresh yourself, or to put on under moisturizer or just to change your mood!

Check out the Sodashi website to find out more.

Okay, so that is my top five for this month. What new things have you found?
