The Best Australian Natural Skincare Brands
I often get asked what natural skincare brands are best, so I have made you a list with some of my favourites. Skincare is such a personal thing though, so try a few out and find something that suits your skin. Some places have options of sample packs or travel packs, which is a great way to go to see if you like a range. I have added in a few little discounts that I could find for you as well. For specific information, click on the links!
“The average woman uses 12 products containing 168 different ingredients daily” EWG
Why would you use natural skincare?
The skin is our largest organ and whatever you put on it, goes directly into your blood stream and to your organs. Much of the skincare in the marketplace is full of nasty toxins that have been linked with cancers, allergies, asthma, hormone disruption and so much more. There is also the accumulative effect to consider of using these products, day in day out over your lifetime.

I love these products – the aromatherapy oils really make it a special experience.

You can find some of these brands in health food stores or eco-stores, but I prefer to shop online for the great range of products available.
♥ Biome Eco Store. Founded by Tracey Bailey, this small family business is a favourite. They stock a huge range of things, that are organic, natural, recycled and fairtrade; skincare being just one of their lines. Tracey has a rewards program, free shipping over $130 and a 5% discount.

What a fabulous list! I get asked often too, but it’s an area I’m only just looking into now and it’s a minefield!
It is so hard for suppliers to get organic produce, that many brands write ‘organic’ on their labels, but only have a few organic ingredients, so you really need to look carefully.
Currently I use Sukin which works well on my skin, but I’m on the hunt for other products. I also love love love Synthesis Organics, which is 100% organic and 100% vegan and is made from only the loveliest ingredients BUT, they’re a premium brand, so I’ve got some products but just haven’t made the jump to their cleansers etc.
On my face I’ve just discovered a brand called Lavera which is ticking all my boxes. I’ve been using their beauty balm (tinted moisturiser) and am loving it!
Sukin is so affordable, but it doesn’t work on my skin unfortunately! It’s trial and error sometimes!
I lover Lavera too but unfortunately not Australian made, would love to see as good as in Australia. Is Sukin Australian? Not sure of some of their ingredients.
Hi Sonia,
thanks for including The Little Alchemist in your list and I am pleased that you enjoy the products 🙂
Great list! Another one to keep an eye out for is Kelapa Organics. Started by an old colleague of mine Adam and his mum, it’s super gentle and has a coconut oil base. All Aussie owned and made too 🙂
Thanks for this list. I started using Happy Skincare after one of your previous posts indicated that you were pleased with one of their products. I have very dry sensitive skin and have been really happy with the quality and results from the Happy Skincare range. The service is excellent. They send a survey to see how the products are going and then actually follow up to provide further assistance on product use or to recommend something to assist a particular skin problem. I am very impressed so far.
A couple of interesting looking ones here that I haven’t come across before. I love Verissima Skincare (made in WA). I recently was having real problems with super dry skin due to the cold snap here in NZ (snow on the mountains where I live!) and I tried absolutely everything inside and out to fix my crocodile skin – Verissima’s sandalwood moisturiser was the only thing to restore my face back to feeling like actual skin instead of sandpaper, and their hemp body moisturiser got rid of my leg scales. Bliss!
Sonia this is fantastic. I’ve struggled to know where to even start. Coconut oil is the only product I use for moisturizer but I would LOVE to find a good scrub, so I’ll be trying the one you suggested from Lhami.
Thank you for doing a great review as always 🙂
Warm Regards
Kate(HFK) xo
I’m a Sukin girl – one of the few brands that I don’t react to, is affordable and works well for my dry, eczema prone skin. It’s so interesting what works for one person and not another!
I have been using a combination of brands, Lush’s Angels on bare skin clenser, I know some of their products contain bad stuff, but that one doesn’t and their strong stance on animal testing makes them worth not writing off completely. I love the Australian bushflower moisturiser I have, it’s the pink one, can’t remember the name of it, and also the orange body cream and lemon hand cream. I completely agree with you about them lifting your mood, they do it for me too.
I really like Beauty and the Bees soaps and baby products, their botty balm is great for sore nipples and also lip balm. I haven’t tried their face products but really want to. I would love to see a review on them by you.
I haven’t tried ANY of these…. whoops. BUT you know I make my own… and I shall have some for YOU to try soon! I am still trying to track down an all-natural vegan makeup though… like a foundation? Not that I wear makeup very often (bah! too much effort!) but when I want to get all fancy a decent one would be good.
I use Moo Goo Skincare and have LOVED the results i get. Their oil cleanser is fantastic and the Anti-Ageing Moisturizer is amazing. Am looking for a good exfoliate so will check out the one you mentioned above 🙂
Great to know Kat – I love Moo Goo products for shampoo !
Loving the Lhami Products! My all time favourite is the Pomegranate and Rose Hydrating serum, absolutely made for the Australian climate. If you’re on the Central
Coast you must come and have a Lhami facial at Padma, you will be very surprised at the results.
I think I am using that one too – it is lush! Actually all their stuff is lovely!
I am not very fond of branded skin care products as I usually prefer to use home made skin care products. I am glad that you shared these products which are chemical free and organic. My skin is very sensitive and I think these products will not harm my skin.
NO, they are very gentle David 🙂
Fantastic list Sonia! With so many nasty chemicals in mainstream cosmetics, so great to know we have options
There are getting to be more and more fabulous options! I would rather support a mum and dad biz anyday over those multinationals too!
What a great list, thank you so much for sharing it ! ! 🙂
thanks Cate!
I converted to Probioskin about 10 mths ago. Its fantastic. I had flare ups and bumpy irritated skin and nothing helped until I came across this. Later on I put it down to Sunscreen specifically – baby and kids sunscreen. I removed it from my cupboards and replaced with zinc oxide based natural sunscreen and had no further trouble. Thanks for your list its great its so hard when you go into shops to know whats safe and whats not! http://www.probioskin.com
Thanks Kelly, hadn’t heard of that one!
I’d be interested in reviews of every day wear face creams/serums/oils which have SPF factor? All suggestions welcome!
I actually don’t think there would be many of those with SPF as sunscreen elements can be quite toxic, but I will keep an eye out LIsa 🙂
Hi Sonya and Lisa, Jjenisis are just about finished with trialing a natural, vegan and cruelty free BB (Beauty Balm/Tinted Moisturiser)due for release any day now (just waiting to finalise labels!) BB has a natural sun blocks in it (nothing nasty). Watch this space at http://www.facebook.com/jjenisis. Several clients and myself across several different skin types have been trialing the product for several months now and we’ve had nothing but shining reviews. As with all Jjenisis products they are natural or naturally derived and Exquisite quality amazing products.
Was wondering what opinions where of the brand “Jurlique” as they have their own farm garden to grow most of thier ingredients…..
Hi Nadia
These guys were the leaders in their field but the word on the street is that they have been taken over by a new company and are now questionable. I don’t know the accuracy of this info though.
Thanks. Ya I just noticed, their lavender shampoo’s second ingredient after water was Sodium Laureth Sulphate…. Which is not good right? I mean, I keep trying to find correct information but there is good and bad amd I don’t know which is actually true. 🙁
As mentioned in the article, check the website EWG or Chemical Maze book to decipher! 🙂
