Why I *heart* my thermomix

April 26, 2012 · 48 Comments

Meet ‘THERMY’ –  my third baby. Thermy is over three years old now and I don’t know what I did before it and I don’t know what I’d do without it! It truly has taken our goal of healthy, clean eating to a whole new level.

If you have never heard of a thermomix, you need to take a look at the website! It is a fantastic all-in-one cooking machine. In fact, I think you could easily throw away all of your other kitchen appliances, microwave and oven and live quite happily with just a thermomix.

My Natural New Age Girl has already informed me that when I die, the thermomix goes to her.

I sleep with one eye open.

Thermy lurve

Everyone in the family uses it. The kids make CADA or porridge for their breakfast and smoothies and drinks for their after school snack. They love whipping up custard (none of that nasty packet stuff either), sorbet or rice pudding if they feel like dessert. The Natural New Age Dad has been known to knock up soup, risotto or a pasta dish if he has to cook. All in all, it gets used at least once a day, mostly 4-5 and often 10 times or more.

What I love most, is that I can make so many things from scratch that previously were not feasible given my skill level, patience level and time factor! Now, I whip up homemade jam, tomato sauce, mayonnaise, bread, curry pastes and spice mixes in the blink of an eye. I even mill my own flours and almond meal. It really makes it easy for families to significantly cut down or eliminate processed foods altogether.

It makes anyone look like a domestic goddess. Would you like some homemade raspberry jam on those homemade scones? How about I whip us up some garlic prawn risotto for lunch?

Guaranteed to incite what is known as ‘thermy-envy’ amongst your friends!

raspberry jam, blueberry jam, vegetable stock, mayonnaise

If you are keen to have a look at some recipes, check out my Thermomix recipe category. I even have a thermomix board on Pinterest!

Do you have a thermomix? What is the thing you ♥ the most about it?

Just so you know, I don’t sell them! But, I probably should, huh? 😉

Totally Agree. I have had mince for about 6 weeks and LOVE IT. Great for all the healhty dishes, CADA, porridge, smoothies, salads, soups etc…. And I love making my own bread – although I have to clarify that you do need your oven to actually bake things in.

you do need an oven if you want to make roasts etc, but you could manage without it ! I steam a lot of my meat in the varoma and also steam cakes !

Best invention EVER. Even better than sliced bread 🙂 I have only had mine about 7 weeks and I loooove it. It makes life sooo much easier. It makes people who love to cook more efficient and for those who hate cooking it makes cooking less of a chore.

I really can’t live without my Thermomix! You’re right, it makes us feel totally domestic goddesses. I don’t know how many different things I have cooked and baked so far, because I just can’t get enough! I love my Thermomix!

We love our thermy too. I have had it since just before Christmas and it has been a life saver. School lunch baking is done in next to no time now instead of it taking up half of a Sunday. Dinners are a breeze and so much less hassle. I love that we can make more things from scratch in no time at all. We have just finished making some ice-cream (I had a few litres of milk that needed to get used today) and we have anzac biscuits in the oven right now, next will be muffins and then some bread.

The ice cream recipe is in the EDC… the recipe book that comes with the Thermomix. So very good and only 5 or 6 ingredients! My 16 year old makes this a lot, adding any flavouring that strikes his fancy at the time.
I become a consultant after I owned mine for 3 weeks and fell in love with it, but as the commenter above said, it’s a pretty good option to earn one…

I’m yet to jump on the band wagon because of the cost… I’m worried that I will spend the money and then it will become like all the other things in my kitchen – full of great intentions but never actually used…

Ah… it’s so lovely to read about someone else’s love for the TMX & that there are more & more TMX lovers nowadays too.

We were exposed to one nearly 5 yrs ago & have had ours for 3.5 years now & it’s been fantastic to say the least! No icing sell them either but probably should have before it got so popular!!

I’ve never been much of a cook myself but every time I use the TMX it makes me feel otherwise! It’s so convenient & easy to use! Love finding new recipes to try (where/when we can with a lil’ one).

Hmm… all this thinking about the TMX is making me hungry 🙂

I didn’t think I could justify the money on a Thermomix, but its the BEST money I have ever spent ! 🙂 I used to hate cooking and couldn’t cook, now I can whip up curries, make my own butter and almond milk, Green Smoothies, ice cream for the kids (& me 🙂 ) and much, much more. I actually enjoy cooking now. I couldn’t live without my Thermy. Love her 🙂

I have been looking for a consultant for a couple of years. We live in our caravan and move around a fair bit. By the time I found one, it was time to move again… until a couple of weeks ago. We are in Woombah, near Yamba and met a brand new consultant at the local market. I have now ordered one and delivery should be any day now. Getting excited.

I also have a third thermy child, named Bam Bam (Bloody Awesome Machine). Arrived in our house 18 months ago, and will never leave. I have come to the sad conclusion that when my two kids (aged 10 and 13) leave home, I will have to buy them one as they don’t know how to cook without one!

But that’s OK – it will save me a fortune in all the other gadgets I would have got them. Any yes, makes it so easy to cut all preservatives, sugar and rubbish!
